Further to the main sponsored teams, we are currently working on related projects in collaboration with other organizations.

Roadhouse Recyclers

Adopt a River is proud to be one of the stakeholders invested in the upliftment of the informal recycling unit under Connaught Bridge. Known as Roadhouse Recyclers, these individuals are some of the hardest working citizens. Diverting tons of cardboard waste from landfills they really do assist the municipality. We are working towards improving their operating area and include other waste recyclables.

uMngeni River Rejuvenation

Together with Green Corridors, Umgeni Estuary Conservancy, the city and various other stakeholders we aim to bring about a rejuvenation of this Estuary

#CleanBlueLagoon

A Facebook community initiative that we help coordinate. We meet monthly, diarise every third Saturday of the month. Volunteers and groups can get involved to help clear the waste at Beachwood Mangroves and the northern riverbank of the uMngeni River. Adopt a River lends support in the way of organizing bags, logistics, and removal of the waste.

The Connaught Bridge Collaboration

The Connaught Bridge collaboration is a recycling project in progress, and going forward, they hope to also have exciting solutions for the use of plastics which would not usually be recycled because they are either too dirty or contaminated!

Campaign bags over 300 bags of litter

Hard at work to leave only their footprints on the planet and keep beaches free of litter, Adopt-A-River and the Green Corridors are continuing to champion nature conservation through their ongoing project, #CleanBlueLagoon.
